Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a special rainforest park located in Southwestern Uganda. The park was gazetted in 1991 and today, its boundaries extend up to 331sq.km. This is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and protects up to 459 mountain gorillas. It features a significant number of already habituated gorilla groups including Mubare, Kyaguriro, Oruzogo, Bitukura, Mukiza, Nkuringo, Christmas, Katwe, Mucunguzi, Bweza, Rushegura, Habinyanja, Kahungye, Busingye, and others.

Day 1: Kigali-Cyanika/Katuna-Bwindi

After breakfast, you will be picked up at hotel in Kigali capital of Rwanda and embark on a short city tour. With a local guide, pay a visit to the Kigali genocide site and other significant sites within the reach of Kigali capital. After, begin your 4-5 hours’ drive road trip, navigating via Katuna or Cyanika border. This trip special in the sense that you have a chance to experience the breathtaking landscapes from both Uganda and Rwanda.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking, drive back to Kigali via Katuna/Cyanika

Join other visitors for morning orientation about gorilla trekking safety measures. The briefing exercise will be performed by Bwindi National Park official who also will allocate gorilla groups for you to explore. Each gorilla family is visited by maximum of 8 (eight) guests on a single day and the actual trekking begins at 8:00am.

The long day search for the rare mountain gorillas takes between 2 and 6 hours. This covers a special one-hour for you to take pictures and observe the daily behaviors of these unique apes. Get back and pick up your gorilla trekking certificate, continue to the lodge to have then check out. From Bwindi, drive back to Kigali crossing via Katuna or Cyanika border and today marks the end of 2 days Bwindi gorilla trek from Kigali.
