Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be welcomed by our experienced guide at the airport on arrival and depending on the time of arrival, have a short city tour in Kigali, lunch and embark on the journey to Volcanoes National Park in the North. Enjoy the fresh breeze on your countryside tour as you drive to Ruhengeri district and finally arrive at the park. Check in at the lodge in the evening hours, relax have dinner and spend your night there.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

After breakfast at the lodge, you will set off from your lodge with your guide and drive to the briefing point of this park. You will join other guests and be divided into groups of 8 and also be allocated Gorilla groups to track. You will soon be led into the forest after briefing and begin the search for the habituated Gorilla group allocated to your group. The trekking exercise involves hiking through thick undergrowth which means you must be well prepared and equipped with tracking gear. On meeting the Gorilla family, you will be given a one-hour interaction time with them as you learn about their individual character. Tracking Gorillas may take 3 hours to half a day depending on the strength of the trackers and sometimes depending on the movement of the Gorillas. You will later be led to the starting point to receive your tracking certificates and then drive back to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Iby’iwacu cultural village

Breakfast will be served early in the morning, check out of the lodge and be on your way to the Iby’iwacu cultural village to have an encounter with the traditions of the Rwandan people. Iby’iwacu is a local word meaning ‘our cultural inheritance’, this village is a true reflection of the ancient traditions of the people of Rwanda. You will enjoy amazing traditional performances and participate if you wish to do that. Have lunch there and embark on your journey back to Kigali for your final flight.
