This 3 days Congo lowland gorilla trekking in Kauzi Biega national park Congo is an opportunity to dig into the way of life of these giants in their natural habitat. The lowland Gorillas are a special type of Gorillas that live in the swampy forests of the republic of Congo and other parts of Africa. They are small in size and their brown color distinguishes them from any other species of Gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bukavu
Our representative will welcome you on arrival at the airport in Kigali or pick you from your hotel in Kigali city and start your journey to DR Congo. The journey is a long one but quite rewarding especially as you drive through the countryside of Rwanda enjoying the fresh environment from the lush green vegetation on the roadside. You may also have a chance to see primates and birds as you drive through Nyungwe forest. You will later cross the border through Cyangugu Bunagana proceeding to Bukavu town in Congo. You will have a few stopovers during the journey including a lunch break. You will there after checking at your lodge in Bukavu since it is the closest town to Kahuzi Biega National Park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla Tracking
After an early breakfast meal at the lodge, you will set off with your guide for a 45 minutes’ drive to the park offices of Kahuzi Biega national park for briefing. You will then be guided into the forest to trek the lowland Gorillas through the different trails as guided by the rangers. After several hours of trekking through the thick and sometimes soggy undergrowth, you will meet these gentle giants and be allowed to interact with them for a whole hour. The whole experience may take more hours than expected but meeting a lowland gorilla family is an experience that won’t let you mind about the journey. You may also have a chance to watch other inhabitants of the park especially primates and several bird species. Depending on the time available after this impressive wild experience with lowland Gorillas, you may opt to have a community tour to see how the locals go about their daily lives. Drive back to Bukavu after this rather exhausting experience and retire at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Drive back to Kigali
Breakfast will be served early at the lodge to allow you ample to travel back to Kigali. You will have several stopovers at different major tourist attractions to make your journey more fun on this last day of your trip. Arrive at Kigali in the afternoon and exit Rwanda or be at our Hotel.
